How to make those in power listen.
Students Occupy UC Regents Meeting - Reporting from UCR, where student protesters stood up, mic-checked, and began reciting their demands at the end of the Public Comment portion of a UC Regents meeting. The Regents filed out, although Sherry Lansing, Chief of Staff, stayed behind to listen briefly to the students before remarking that they had achieved little else beyond “disrupting” the meeting. The students listed tuition cuts, the rehiring of faculty, the restoration of classes among their demands. The students intiated a People’s Assembly and voted to leave about an hour later. When the students had left the room, the Regents returned and reconvened the meeting without them.
